What We are currently working on
The main task of the Thermal team is to create a thermal model of the PEP-GS. Using Thermal Desktop, an industry-standard program, a consciously improved model is created. Currently, the model is reaching the heights of its maturity, with nearly the entire satellite being molded as well as having the ability to model the mission the satellite will undergo. Using this model we create a thermal analysis document, that will summarize the model results to allow for a deeper understanding of what kind of thermal control and thermal monitoring are needed. Currently, for thermal monitoring, we use thermocouples to keep a constant check on the temperature of critical components during the mission. For thermal control, there exists battery heaters located on the battery cells of the main battery pack of the satellite. In the future we will continue to improve upon the model, the analysis of the model, as well as fine-tune our thermal control to ensure minimal risk during the mission.
