STRUCTUREs

Structures is responsible for designing the physical structure and fitting the components within the structure. Structures also run simulations for vibration and axial loading to simulate the launch environment.

Responsibilities:

  • CAD modeling of structure and internal components

  • Simulation of CAD model

Skills used in Structures:

  • Working Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks) for design and simulation

  • Knowledge of machining and good CAD practices

What We are currently working on

Leading up to our Final Design Review the structures team has designed the structure for the satellite and performed various Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure structural integrity throughout the system. Structures also plays a large role when it comes to system level decisions, such as placement within the satellite to make sure we have the most optimal position for assembly and integration. Additionally The Structures team has put together an assembly procedures manual for building and prototyping engineering models along with a flight model when that time comes.
